So there you have it. One 27 mile route from the Union Canal down to Cramond, taking in pretty much every type of environment or view you can think of. Desert and mountain didn’t feature, but a whole range of other sights did. Aren’t Edinburgh cyclists spoiled for some beautiful views?

I think we have lots of good winter weather. Just not this year!

Well there have been some extreme bits but less 'winter' than usual(?)

    Whatever "usual" is anymore!

Quite liked the off road route theme. The colinton mains park path I would normally avoid but fitted in to the green bank park then hermitage and then Bingham paths flowing all the way to porty

Yes we have some great little paths for quiet little pootles. And thanks to the proximity of hills and sea lots of variety.

That field at Blackford Glen Road

Got chased down the hill there by a big clydesdale horse, autumn 1992

He had me beat for pace, I wasn't going to make it to the fence

So i stopped dead, turned and faced him, fearing the worst

I swear he reared up and just laughed at me..

Never knew horses had such a wicked sense of humour

Gosh, thanks for popping up my blog post. Looks like the paths of Edinburgh are unknown to many people - lots of folk commenting to me about the route and the views. Hope you enjoyed the post :)

The south of the city is still by and large a bit of a mystery to me so it's been interesting to explore more of it. Suspect there are still many quiet and gorgeous routes to be found within our city boundaries.

Can't wait for spring, it's in the post!

Ooooh, another path and quiet route that looks almost totally off main road. No, I don't know this way at all. All the way around the ERI and via Mortonhall and Buckstone. I will definitely have to give that one a go. Now bookmarked ;) Thank you!

Not all off-road and the back of ERI is everchanging.

Don't forget to have a drink at the Stables Bar.
