Road markings re-painted

Hopefully nobody will point out a dedicated thread already existing for this topic! ;-)

I thought it might be interesting to note where and when roads are having their line markings re-done and whether cycle lanes are done/added/ignored at the same time, whether it's after re-surfacing or not.

    Craigcrook Road

The markings have been re-painted leading up to the primary school but not much further east than that for some reason. Centre lines and cycle lane markings done - and well-needed it was too. They fall well short of the Strachan Road/Ravelston Dykes Road junction however. I haven't checked whether they continue west past the school. It's as though it's just to service the school itself as it stands. Hopefully they'll come back and complete the whole road.

It's just a shame his has been done "topsy-turvy" - the road needs completely re-laid as it's a complete mess for a busy residential and link road servicing D-Mains & the A90 (Queensferry Rd), Ravelston & Murrayfield and the city centre via Q'ferry Rd. I'm guessing it's just using up some remaining budget before the new financial year but I'd prefer them to sort out the moon crater surface first! It doesn't bode well for that happening soon if they've just painted it, but then again this is Edinburgh so somebody's bound to dig it up in the next fortnight for something...

Never mind repainting the lines, they need to resurface the road, it's a mess.

The cycle lanes on Craigcrook are unusable unless you have a mountain bike. I use the road everyday and hate it, I'm planning on speaking to our local politician to see if there's anything that can be done, but I'm sure my efforts will be futile.

"I'm planning on speaking to our local politician to see if there's anything that can be done, but I'm sure my efforts will be futile."

If you mean councillors, everyone has 3 or 4 depending on which ward you are in.

Some councillors are not keen on responding to people who don't live in their ward - but should be interested in poor/dangerous infrastructure.

Anyone got photos or details of where the worst sections are?

The more people who report things to Clarence, Fixmystreet etc (and councillors) the better.

The whole area is in Inverleith ward (map) - and has useful set of councillors!

"Never mind repainting the lines, they need to resurface the road, it's a mess. "

That was exactly my point when I said, "It's just a shame his has been done "topsy-turvy" - the road needs completely re-laid as it's a complete mess..."

Everyone will have their favourite "This road should be a big priority to fix", but personally I think this is one of the worst-surfaced road in the whole city in proportion to its level of use by all forms of traffic. (i.e. it's a busy road and in a terrible state, rather than a quiet road in an even worse condition). What's worse is it's an official emergency vehicle route (or at least I assume it still is, which is why there have never been any traffic-calming measures despite it clearly needing them).

"Anyone got photos or details of where the worst sections are?"

Trust me, I'm not being overly-dramatic when I say the whole road is a 'worst section'! However, the northern end, from the beginning (at the D-Mains junction) along to Blackhall Primary School, halfway along, is the worst of the worst.

I may get some photographs, but meanwhile, enjoy a little journey to the moon!:

If you want to influence these sorts of issues - you need to be on your local community council or neighbourhood partnership.

The CC will send a rep to the NP. Spokes also does - at least to some. I wonder if they would need volunteers for others? Also Living Streets Edinburgh is also looking Into getting representation or input into these decisions.
