Given all the debate about path conditions, dog walkers, estate traffic and so on, it's good to be reminded how lucky some of us are to have this route as part of our regular commute. It's even more lovely as the sun's setting behind the bridge on a clear, calm evening, or in the morning when the sun starts to clear the mist over the Forth. If there's a more pleasant cycle commute into a major city anywhere else in the UK, I'd be interested to see it.

Its a splendid commute on a sunny day, and often a rewarding one in poor weather also.
Usually I take the B800 / B9080 / A90 road all the way in to Edinburgh, and switch to the Dalmeny-bound pavement route on the way back to the Kingdom. At Dalmeny, head to the bridge via Station Road.
Wouldn't swap it for another commute.

I got to show this commute home to a fellow cyclist from the otherside of the Atlantic lastnight. He lives in SQ and hadn't been through the estate on a bike. I took him down the 75 route and he really enjoyed it.

Aww, thank you for popping my blog post up on the forum! This was an absolutely lovely cycle. I can't wait to do it again, go a bit further afield and perhaps loop back via the canal :)

You can cycle on from south Queensferry to. Blackness on cycle path and track. Bits might. Be muddy. There is the. Route up. To the canal but there will be hills.

@gembo thanks for heads up. I'd really like to give the route a go soonish. I am prepared to have a stab at the hills - provided we're not talking hardcore half hour ascents etc!
I don't know many routes outside of the city so keen to try and explore the surrounds. We are very lucky to have so many varied landscapes and routes to choose from I think.

The sustrans Round The Forth map covers it nicely. If you are down at sea level there is a climb out of s Queensferry, then another - see the kingscavil climb mentioned here and other Internet places, steep but not so long a climb, from that level there is another climb up to the canal. Obvioulsy totally flat from there. Stay on the canal as the round the forth route has a path that comes off the canal goes away back down the hill and back up again. Don't do that.
