    About

Pentland Velo – Local group of cyclists, who go out on leisure/training rides to be sociable, and get fit for various Sportive Events.
Starting out initially as a work in progress for over the Winter 2013, and then into 2014, with an aim to launch in the Spring 2014 if it looks like a good idea.

Formed from a collective idea and as an extension to the Sunday AM Cyclists group, to encourage other local riders, to join in and get fit(ter) in good sociable company. Whether it be for fun or aiming for a Sportive event in the future. Longer term aim to include family rides and provide classes on relevant topics to cycling.

Interesting. We were down Leeds way last weekend and it was rampant with clubs out on runs both days, giving us cause to wonder about a "valley of the water of leith cycle club" (better names might be possible).

    Fairmilehead not too distant...

I know the guys behind this. Started with a group of us doing a regular Sunday ride and this is trying to expand and have more people joining in if they want to. It is very sociable for anyone that wants to join in. Different people pitch up each week so no commitment to be out every weekend as a lot of us have other commitments that can make a Sunday cycle a treat when it occurs.

I think this week's ride is on Saturday morning to avoid a clash with Mother's Day!

There's a lot more on Facebook if you search for Pentland Velo.

ianmb, there's a start time listed for tomorrow's ride but not a location. Are you able to advise ?

    On the FAQ page:
"Training rides start from the bus stop opposite the site of the old Fairmile Inn on the Biggar Rd."

Thanks Fimm, missed that. Might give it a go tomorrow if I can manage the horribly early start.

Pintail - it's a 7.30am start outside the old Fairmile Inn. I'm on kids taxi duty so won't be there but Scott will and will lead the ride.

Well I managed to get up in time, very glad I did, enjoyed a brisk 50 miles in the company of two of the club. Hope to make a regular date of it.
