I am unable to find information on what tool I need to use to replace the brake pads on my new brake shoes. I got these and fitted them a couple of weeks ago:

You can replace the pads when they wear out, and I'm attempting to prepare in advance for when that happens, but the allen key (I guess) needed to remove the pads is smaller than the smallest allen key I have (H2). I am struggling to find a smaller allen key on the interwebs to purchase, so I think I'm looking for the wrong thing? Does anyone know what tool I should be looking for to remove the pads from these brake shoes?

You sure the pads are not held by a clip on the inner side of the pads. GCN have a clip on changing Campagnolo pads like this:

Normally a slim set of pliers works for me if it is the clip type. Depends on what it looks like

Having said that I usually just replace the lot.

A tiny allen key - I think it may be 2mm, or at least it is on the Fibrax shoes used by Brompton.

Alas no, it's definitely not a clip like in that video.

This might be something to investigate, but the pliers are going to have to be really tiny, because (see next response)

The 2mm allen keys I have are too big to fit in it. This hex key hole is absolutely tiny!

Yeah, this is potentially going to end up happening. I just can't understand why I can't find any information about how to remove the damn things! I also can't find any information about Lifeline who make them. Are they Wiggle's own brand, by any chance?

The EBC Allen key set (the rainbow coloured one) has a 1.5mm key which works for the brake shoes. I much prefer the screws with Philips screwheads though, the Allen type always seem to burr the head and get stuck for good.

Picked one of these up today, and it works! Cheers, @kaputnik.

Might get a set £4.99? Though I am bad at rounding screws with Allen keys.

I have a back brake pad seized on the brake caliper. Got one off leaving lube in overnight but the other still declining. I also have a chain with some links seized. This is bad as newish chain, must have gone through salt without really noticing. I feel if I take it off and leave in bath of oil it should come good. Then I will be doing that thing of running different chains on the same cassette.one on the bike, one in a bath of oil and then you are supposed to have a third one? What is it again, a new chain just waiting for the rotation?
