The city council’s environment convener Lesley Hinds said: “Its a bit like the issue of cycling on the prom where we were able to discuss it and come up with a solution where peoplle are allowed to cycle, but they have to be careful.”

Wot the EN has a typo (wonder if it was copied from Lesley's email!)

"but they have to be careful"

Yep, that's all 'we' ask - 'responsible use'

    Dog owners too.

    Motorists one day (maybe).

But leashless dogs have always been above tax-paying cyclists in the grand pecking order of shared path users.

I'm a Porty resident and co-manager of two slightly dog averse toddlers. My kids have been frightened, to tears on one occasion, by boisterous, friendly dogs coming up to them. It's not a big deal, but I think a voluntary agreement to keeps dogs on a leash in the central part of the beach would be a good thing, as a trial at least.

Ironically, I don't think shit on the beach is a major issue, it's nothing like as bad as it is on the streets and pavements around Porty.

I see the nonsense on the EEN comments is as bad as ever.
