    Or general(ly around) Edinburgh

    "

Now the service has again been put up for tender due to funding issues, with five villages on its route – Old Craighall in East Lothian and Millerhill, Newton Village, Hilltown and Cousland in Midlothian – facing isolation if it is cut.

Not saying that bikes could replace bus for all users, but this is one area that needs much better walk/cycle infrastructure. Some was planned as part of "South East Wedge" - which was (partly) based around Shawfair Station.

    That is being created.

    "An opportunity for Lothian Buses?"

    Yesbutnobut -

Seems to be a case of low passenger numbers and high subsidy.

But there are house building plans - imminent at Millerhill I think - so just needs a bit of joined-up...

"Cousland bing" got a mention in that recent Sustrans spending announcement.

I assume that refers to linking the Pencaitland Path to the Dalkeith/Musselburgh path.

That could help Couslanders a bit, although they are on the top of a hill which might put off potential cyclists even if the links to Dalkeith, Musselburgh and beyond were better.

I would be surprised. It was Edinburgh Coach Lines who saved the #13 service in Edinburgh by taking it over from Lothian Buses with that all-important subsidy. If that subsidy is being removed/reduced from their 328 service, I can't imagine Lothian Buses taking it on.
