This probably isn't that exciting for most people on here, but I finally got around to writing up something on my unhealthy collection of Edge GPS computers: every Edge GPS compared

Admittedly, this is the collection of both my better half and I... still a bit of a geekfest! (And it doesn't include running watches...)

    Every Edge? ;-)

Ok, so it's not out yet!

Good preview from the always comprehensive DC Rainmaker

I've still got a 305 and 705 that I've been meaning to put on eBay for ages but still to get round to it.

That's even better than the photo of magnatom with three cameras on his helmet...

@Dave have you tried riding with that set up? If you did, did they all show the same speed? I'd like to see a video...

I've noticed that my Edge 200 takes quite a bit of time to slow down to zero when I stop, so it often shows 5mph on the screen when I'm stationary at traffic lights, and this seems to translate onto Strava. I'm wondering how they'd all compare at this.

You can bin all those and just buy the Spokes Buff in XXXXXXXXXXXXXL which covers most of the UK.

    :o)

That Garmin 1000 does look pretty nice. But what a price!

Great reviews. I love a GPS gadget.

I notice that Garmin are advertising a power pod meter that appears to retail for £50 but that other power meters seem to retail for somewhere in the region of £1350. What gives? I've been interested in the power readings but have always been put off by the price.

@Greenroofer, they all show similar speeds, but I didn't consider videoing it. Darn... it took ages to fit all the rubber bands too! Maybe one for a follow-up?

The Edge 510 is conspicuously much better than my Edge 500 when there's a lot of tree / building cover and I'm on foot. Both are OK at the higher speeds of cycling, perhaps because the algorithm has a better chance of getting it right when it knows you can't be swerving that much at X mph?

@davemorrison, I think you may just be seeing an accessory for the Vector pedals, which are sadly more like £1300...

When I bought my PowerTap it was on mighty sale but even so I thought it was a bit ridiculous. Never had a moment's regret though.
