Oooh. Paolozzi. Over-rated. Happens to work in bronze so he got a load of big outdoor commissions. Punted by the SNGMA for a bit of token Scotch art. Never heard of anyone going out of their way to see one of his pieces.

    Yours,

I were right about that sculpture

You are not listening hard enough.

    Here's one I did earlier -

(So long ago it was shot on film!)

Our office had a lot of lovely Paulozzi original edition prints up on the wall at one time, but they dissapeared into the corporate art collection at some point to be flogged off. We have bland company motivational advertising now.

The IBM of Scottish art. No one ever got fired for buying IBM...no one ever got their taste disparraged for commissioning Eduardo. Formulaic, bombastic, repetitive. Another old white man making bronze lumps.

Latterly, but he wasn't always old!

That foot always makes me think of a woman painting her toenails with those foam sponge spreaders between them.

And with his connections with Leith, shouldn't it have been placed at "The Foot of the Walk"?

I am an (the?) anti-Paolozzist and proud of it!

Anyone up for an Intervention? I'll buy five litres of candy pink nail varnish and a pack of brushes.

Looks a bit like uberuce up the stepladder? Careful now in case it wobbles.

Those Henry Moores done in Dumfries and Galloway are all getting nicked, tragically for scrap.

No one tried that with a Paolozzi yet

Used to be quite common for one toenail to be 'coloured in', but I haven't noticed that for a while.

My original Intervention was to cast a giant bronze Ugg boot around Paolozzi's foot. I ruled that out as impractical.

    Not only are Moores being nicked for scrap, they're being sold to fund municipalities;

I'd guess the Paolozzis are safe due to no one wanting to buy them their being so well-loved.

Pleasing to see (isn't it IWRATS) that the two Paolozzi statues at KB have reappeared on plinths on the grassy bit in the middle (opposite to the library)

Those things are the original source of my Paoloathing. I wrote a letter about them so long ago it was an actual letter.

I'll get my revenge by triggering @steveo with mention of the Lairig an Laogh.

Since IWRATS has such a soft spot for Paolozzi I thought he'd like to see some of the non-bronze works we have been digitising at work:

I particularly like the smashed up mosaics being stitched together digitally like a large jigsaw puzzle.

They really are far more prominent now, aren't they? Which is probably a good thing, I suppose, even if it's just to help recruitment for @IWRATS's anti-Paolozzi army.

@amir - is that your bike that has the brass bell and "go further" stem cap?

I am looking forward to seeing the first cone - quite a climb
@Frenchy my word - bike spotting now - yes - do you share the same shed?

    IWRATS' Anti-Paolozzi Army

Liking this. Five year mission to move those things one foot every night until they're in the Braid Burn where they belong.

They just moved 500+ feet in the wrong direction, so maybe an 8 year plan now?

Just back from the True to Life exhibition at GMA2. One of the last paintings is a pile of rubble from blitz it is next to the mock up of Paolozzi's studio. Very similar.

Aye, saw the crane this morning. Well designed public space doesn't need art because it is art. Badly designed public space can't be saved by any means.

That piece is worth about £10,000 as scrap copper.
