Thanks to super @ScotRail for allowing over 20 bikes on the Edinburgh-Dunbar #bellesonbikes @JMuirFestival

Hmm, I asked about taking three bikes from Fife to Edinburgh for PoP and was told 2 max limit due to 'elf n safety'...

All twenty on the one train? Even the six? Cyclists in the picture something close to record?

Maybe they dug the silver shoes?

@DaveC My other half and I took our bikes from Haymarket to Dunfermline St. Margaret's yesterday. When we got on, there were already two bikes in the rack, with a sign stating, "Only two bicycles permitted". The guard just smiled and said, "A bit tight here, eh?" and carried on.

I don't know if it's at the guard's discretion or what, but there was no problem.

    "I don't know if it's at the guard's discretion"

    Basically yes.

    Which can be good.

Best to avoid 'rush' hours and generally be considerate.

Guard told me a story where he had allowed three bikes on. One bike got scratched, cyclist complained and guard was disciplined.

Boyfriend and I got on train at Glenrothes/Thornton station. Loadsa buggies (including one massive one with twins) in the bike space, so we just stood in the doorway. After the twin buggy was taken off, the guard came along and told the other buggy owners to move them so we could put our bikes on the rack. Then a couple of lads with MTBs were on for a few stops, and later another couple brought bikes on too. The guard let us all get on with it.

But equally you could get someone who is going to make you stick to the rules. That's the trouble.
