From social media chatter, I believe it was a tribute of sorts to the fella who died in a motorbike accident at Christmas.

I wonder if that's related to the ones at Liberton while ERC juniors were training there this afternoon?

They seem to have toured the city causing disruption, so I think so. There may also have been splinter groups from the main gathering.

Edit: Yeah, @rider73, same thing. There was a mass gathering that then went wheelying etc through the town cos that's what the guy liked to do...

Think they are saying they are above the law?

The kids were upset about the ones at Liberton. Said they tore up the rugby pitch pretty bad. Hope the school doesn't blame ERC for it (the kids know better than to cycle on it).

Two pedestrians have been injured after a spate of incidents involving a large group of off-road bikers in Edinburgh.
Police said they had received a number of calls about anti social behaviour in the city centre, Drylaw, Milton Road in Portobello, Leith and Craigmillar.

The shrine at the side of the path just past the crossing on the Innocent reminded me that at least the law of natural selection sometimes works

was that what those w@nkers were up to?
we saw about 20 screaming past the grassmarket, with 2 or 3 coming into the pedestrian area to show up.

a police van did come towards them with the sirens going, but didn't seem to be chasing or stopping them.

Stopping them just in order to slap their wrist will be seen as not worthwhile.

They're not allowed to chase motorbikes - especially if they're not wearing helmets. Which this crew knows and go without helmets on purpose.

“There were 50-60 motorbikes destroying the pitches at JKC and terrorising the streets around east Edinburgh. Me and my sons aged five and ten were out cycling at the time at innocent railway cycle path and they wouldn’t slow down and nearly hit us.

    yay!
any chance their bikes could be impounded and sold to pay for damages done?

One would like to think that bikes would be returned to those from whom they had been stolen rather than sold off.

I hope so. I also hope the bikes are worth saving after they've been battered around the place.

I very nearly clattered two wee neds on a dirtbike with the 4ft blind I was carrying earlier. They came firing past me on a path. The only thing that stopped me is knowing there's CCTV cameras nearby and an assaulting a minor charge didn't appeal.

...and they're at it again. Just passed a group of about 10 dirt bikes on Baileyfield Road pulling wheelies and goading the following police cars to chase them.

I saw a group of dirt bikers ragging around on the area of flat ground below the WoL path, across the road from Redhall Mill. No licence plates.

I stopped a bit further along (out of their sight) and called 101 to report it. It took a loooong time to get the person on the other end of the phone to understand the location I was referring to - they were obviously looking at Google Maps or something equally useless for pinpointing incidents that aren't taking place on a public road :(

I like to think that the patrol car I saw passing beneath me as I crossed the bridge over the Lanark Road was actually responding to my call. But I somehow doubt it.

you know, in the movies, the superheroes have those nets that shoot out of a gun and go long distances and catch the baddies?

why haven't they been invented yet?
