The slippypaint was about half covered with anti-slip sand-like surface this evening. I imagine they'll finish the job tomorrow. Looks like the same surface they put down at the junction of Middle Meadow Walk and North Meadow Walk. Sensible.

  3. It didn't half have an overpowering chemical reek!

    Left: new, right: old.

    Near: old, far: new.

It's finally starting to look how I imagined they were going to do it in the first place, even if I still doubt it's necessary.

Back from holiday and cycled this way this morning and the biege slipperypaint has now been replaced with a new surface...hopefully of the non-slipper variety.

I wrote to Nigel Bagshaw, one of the local councillors and he replied saying the following ..

I have asked the principal officer in charge of cycling to look into the matter and informed the North Office who are responsible for maintenance of the path and will let you know what action has been taken when I have a reply.

I will post his reply when I get it.

  7. Due to forgetting to change the alarm clock last night, I overslept & ended up not riding in today. Anyone want to report on how the new 'non-slip' surface was in the wet this morning (and whether the excess 'sand' has been swept off or washed away)?

Rode over the surface this morning in the wet and it was fine, had plenty of grip. Didnt notice any of the surface being washed away.

@north_team @CyclingEdin I trust this is a temporary repair until the contractors reset the blocks?
