It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.

sadly I couldn't see any way of getting from the strava segment leaderboard to more details on the activities themselves
Is there a way round this by gathering all the names on the leaderboard, then going through each athlete's profile, trawling for rides on that segment (or rides that match the 'elapsed time') ?
The segment "athlete_name" and "start_date" could be matched to the activity by trawling the athlete profile.
e.g.
"athlete_name" : "Peter S."
"start_date" : "1993-04-03T15:37:43Z"
Then search the activity for words in the description like 'ouch', 'crash' etc.
