"we have to remember not to call it the grassy knoll. "
    I'm only quoting Magnatom... ;-)
"Central mound" or something similarly non-reminiscent of politicans getting shot? (We try to kill them by encouraging them to cycle with us instead...)

It's hard to call it anything else - I wonder if the architects had that in mind when they created it?

On the grassy knoll should be safe anyway. It's if they decide to drive past while others are behind it that they'll be in trouble.

The shot was famously fired from a man standing on the grassy knoll (or not as the case maybe).

Either way, PoP is one of the few protests held outside Holyrood to need to use it. It is interesting that way that every year one of the politicians says "this is the biggest demonstration that has been held here outside Holyrood"...

Sally, I tend to call it 'Speaker's Hill', but I've no idea if Mirales—or anyone else—had a proper name for it.

Thanks to chdot for the reminder about this thread! Just to say that we'll be having the minute's silence at the Parly this year (thank you for the suggestion) and hopefully a beefier sound system. There will be little flags (with a schedule on the back) to give it hopefully a more festive feel, and the pedestrians on parliament will have their own banner too (and a 'feeder walk' from Waverley). It sounds like 'kids to the front' is popular enough to repeat, although there wasn't anything like enough room for all the families that turn out to POP. We'll also beef up the organisation for the unfeeder rides.

So now it's your turn, I guess: we need your help flyering, chalking, talking, feeder-ride-organising, and generally spreading the word. And having volunteers to do a bit of light marshalling at the Meadows - handing out flags, helping with the t-shirts, telling people what's going on, but not actually marshalling the ride itself - will probably help enormously.
