Anyone else been watching? Twitter etc been pretty quiet. I'm a bit surprised, given the strong Uk presence (just not sky). I suppose not enough big names.

For some reason, we were watching the first stage, and the camera work was such that not only was I able to see and understand the strategy, but I was also able to explain it to the 7yo. Subsequent stages have been a bit harder to see clearly (for us at least), but she's really got into it, now that she understands it.

I think we're going to enjoy the giro and the women's ToB

A fantastic day for British cyclists today, I'm proud to share their nationality (if not, alas, their talent).

Have not been following but on twitter Cavendish has been saying what a lovely part of the world it is.

SRD, I always prefer watching the giro, might not be the case but it always seems somehow less ruined by sponsorship than the tdF.

The finish up by Ephesus a couple of days ago had a certain something. Classical.

PS I really wish I had seen that, was there around 20 years ago - truly stunning roman architecture, it really is a wonder.

Having said that, it was august ( girlfriend at the time was a sun worshipper ) and around 120 degrees (old money). Was less developed back then and nowhere to buy water - I genuinely thought I was starting to hallucinate!

@Nelly It had a very similar look to all the great Greek sites I visited 20 years ago - big acreage of astonishing ruins (presumably several to an extent reassembled 150 years ago?) but with a solid modern main access road and carpark within easy walking distance (looked like 100 yards from the smaller theatre, which I was a wee bit surprised by, but maybe the road isn't visible from the ruins when you're down on the ground?)

The cylists in the front group, philistines that they are, didn't even glance at the ruins as they swept past. Sic transit gloria mundi. As the finish was just a couple of km up the road the TV director did not allow us to see the stragglers in the autobus. I'd like to believe that the more respected members of the group organised an impromptu reading of the works of Aristophanes as they rolled up the road.
