Yup, we're still good, Dutch bike has shipped so will be here by then.

We're also very happy to demonstrate/talk through options and advantages/disadvantages. Will pm you my e-mail address.

@Uberuce could you pilot HankChief's tagalong rig, if you could make it?

My family an I will still be coming. I'll have to find out where my basket came from as it was my brother who gave it to us.

I have a friend who uses a hamax so will see if I can talk him into coming.

If there is a pilot available and Hankchief is happy I could pick up his gear too as I live in his vicinity.

I also have an EBC double trailer but don't currently have the linking bit to attach it to a bike so it would be limited use.

I'd loved to have come with my lot as I currently am dragging my 4.5 and 2.5 year old in a Croozer for 2 but we're all away this weekend. :-(

I do however have a Weeride Kangaroo (the one that they sit in front of you) which I'd be willing to lend to someone who was going for demo purposes, if someone wanted to pick it up from Morningside?

@condor What does the weeride clamp onto? Bars, stem, steerer or top tube?

@wingpig, it clamps on between the seat post and the headset.

It's a muckle metal bar in 2 parts which once clamped are designed to be left in situ, then the actual Weeride seat in secured to this with a single bolt on the top. Thusly:

I'll have a weeride on my bike so no need to get a second one.

Another shout out to see if someone was able to demonstrate my tag-a-long / trailgator rigs?

Acsimpson can deliver it to the event, but would be very helpful if someone could look after it and explain which nuts to twist to change from tag-a-long to trailgator.

    Thanks

I'm definitely coming across (I've got a note from my wife and everything). Happy to help out in whatever capacity is needed — I can be in Edinburgh on the red-eye train if necessary.

HankChief; I'm game, although have no experience (which admittedly didn't stop me demoing LaidBack's trikes)...

    Thanks Darkerside.

I expect it will just be a case of showing how it attaches and unattaches between the tag along and trailgator - it is fairly quick once you get the knack.

I'll write a couple of notes on my experiences between the two

In summary they both have their uses..

Trailgator - good to have option to let the kid ride independently and when towing (depending on their wheel size) it can be quite a drag and quite a wheelie that they are pulling .

Tag along - good for 'transport' cycling as you can go faster (bigger wheels). Don'y have to worry about damaging/wearing out the kids bike.

Hoping to make it along to this tomorrow. Is a Hamax seat still needed? I was planning to bring mine plus occupant, so could try to come for all or most of the event?

NiallA that would be great. I've lost track of what's coming and what's not, but the more the merrier at this stage.

In addition to pretending to be HankChief I was planning on bringing along my baby-carrying sling, which I reckon would work nicely in combination with babies on bikes.

I won't actually have the usual occupant with me, but still...

Maybe an 'advice session' on carrying big stuff too -

It's not a child transporter, but I can bring my Carry Freedom along? I'm sure some people would be interested to try out the handling of a potential family shopping transporter.

All set to head along, the new "Dutch" style bike hasn't arrived (due MOnday :( ) but my wife's bike has a wee ride attached. My bike has the Yepp mini on the front(with some difficulty) and a Pepe rear seat donated by someone at work. As well as 2 "demonstators" aged 6 months and 2.5

Thanks to all who let us see and try their bikes!

We had fun trying out the tandem and cargo bike (were they Daisydaisy's and Weezee's?), and thought that Chrisfl's WeeRide looked best for us (once baby is a bit stronger in a few months).

My wife is much happier with the idea of getting baby onto a bike early now, having seen how well you all manage.

Had a lovely day today and we got as much out of it as we hoped we could contribute (being cargo bike converts). Yes, bruce_mcadam, if it was the Urban Arrow with stuff in the box, then it was ours.

Funnily enough, on the way to Homebase afterwards we got stopped by passing motorist who wanted to know about our bike, to the point of actually following us into the carpark to talk to us!

Thank you everyone who came along and showed off their bikes - I think it was a huge success and, as Suzanne was relieved to note, nobody died. (I had underestimated the chaos involved in having a lot of small children on bikes and a lot of adults trying out unfamiliar bikes in quite a confined space...)

A bonus was the number of passing parents and children who had only come to Sciennes to use the swimming pool and were lured in by offers of cake and fun to try out some bikes. There did seem to be an awful lot of people who went from 'oh we would like to get the kids out on bikes more' to 'how much is an Urban Arrow?' in about 3 seconds flat. The dads in particular, seemed delighted by the sheer amount of *kit* involved.

I hope Laid Back see some new customers over the next few months...

Thanks to all. Darren had to stand in for me and demo bikes which I think he enjoyed.
Raising awareness is all to the good and events like this allow people to balance all factors in a two or three wheeled 'human-powered' transport choice. (Maybe with electric assist in some cases).

Thanks to the Women's Cycle Forum for coming up with the idea.
Also should mention Chris at Cycle Service for tech support.

I have a red flask of tea? left in the Urban Arrow. Please claim if it's yours.

I hope this happens again next year... All being well we will be in need of the advice by then! :)

Hello all - this is on again! Saturday 13th June, at Sciennes playground as before (exact details to be confirmed). The format will likely be the same as the last one, unless anyone has some suggestions on how to improve it. We will aim to do more to separate out those trying out bikes from those standing around chatting (as that was giving me slight twinges of anxiety last year, although in the end nobody actually collided, despite the best efforts of some of the kids)

Here was my call for participants from the last one:

"The idea is to gather as many practical solutions for child transportation together for people to try out and ask questions from those who are already using them...

I know that many of you have a wealth of experience in transporting children around in a variety of rigs, so if you'd be interested in helping other families explore the options and could spare a couple of hours on a Saturday morning that would be fantastic. We'll try and get various bike shops involved too (suggestions welcome) but having the 'been there, done that' experience from families with nothing to sell (except maybe some secondhand kit...) will probably be as valuable if not more so. Plus you could all try out each other's bikes as well. If you're happy to give advice and demonstrate but not trust strangers with your bike that would be cool too."

I only have a couple of CoPilot seats to be able to demonstrate this year, but would be willing to turn up and loaf about. I'd trust other people to try them out, using my bike but their own child.

In addition it's been decided/agreed to have a small 'bike swap/jumble'.

Basically an opportunity for CCE type people to sell/buy/give away stuff.

Obviously at this event 'better' if 'child/family related' small bikes, kids' seats etc.

Main condition - if it doesn't sell, take it away/back home.

Indications here if you might want 'a bit of space' for selling/swapping.
