I came across this http://www.wired.com/2011/03/airspresso-bike-pump-powered-espresso-machine/
It's expensive, but compact (you use your bike pump to pressurise it). Has anyone see/used it or tasted the results?

Espresso on the road

I think many cycle tourists recommend the Aeropress. I got given one for my birthday, and it's definitely worth considering compared to lugging a cafetiere (fragile) or Italian espresso pot (even if it fitted on your heat source).
I've used it on a couple of camp sites, and at work where there was only a kettle, and it worked pretty well indeed.

The crucial question though is how does the coffee compare?

Personal taste and all that, but I prefer a decent espresso (preferably electric machine variety) to an Aeropress, but favour Aeropress to cafetiere. I like the thicker, oilier nature of a decent espresso.
I'm no master of the Aeropress, but it seems to produce a more flavourful coffee than a cafetiere or a stovetop espresso. Works better for lighter roasted, more delicately flavoured coffees. It's also very easy to clean.

I have one of these: http://www.handpresso.com/
It makes proper espresso, although only single shots at one time - can use ESE pods or ground coffee.. Its real espresso, not Aeropress coffee..
Ive been camping with it, and very happy with it.

Had a very excellent espresso from similar device in pentlands about five years back. Was done with pods of coffee and pump was incorporated. Tasted brilliant but then any food or drink tastes better in the hills? Thing broke though after a while so maybe having separate pump and press might be a good Idea
