Yep, after all this time CCE has finally reached that artificial landmark of 1,000 'members'.
That's 1,000 people, most of whom cycle in or around Edinburgh who have signed up. (Though these days, due to unwanted spam 'attacks', people have to send an email - so a slight extra hurdle/commitment.)
That's not to say they all still even look at CCE (though many more read without registering - perfectly acceptable). Some people post a lot, some have never posted. One person recently posted for the first time - four years after registering!
All good.
CCE has a strange mix of people (I mean that most sincerely!) with a range of interests and expertises that entertain and inform.
I think there is a common enjoyment of bike riding (and for some, owning and fixing) and a general feeling that 'things could be better' - for themselves, family members and the public, generally, who don't (yet) feel able to cycle.
I think CCE has shown that things can (be) change(d). Quite a few people have been active in organising PoP (and many more have taken part). CCEers are actively monitoring the 'infrastructure' - to an extent that shouldn't be necessary!
Some people are cycling more often and/or further with help and encouragement from others here.
AudaxUK seems to have gained more members too.
