    Well, kind of.

DarkerSide Jr (who'll probably prefer the name Owen when he grows old enough to care about such things) finally joined us on the 17th April. 7 lbs 11 and already has legs like a giraffe.

I hope those of this parish will take said news into consideration given my lack of PoP attendance... :p

Congratulations. I'm not sure they make newborn tandems, but you might be able to get some kind of back-box crib set up on the Meta? :-)

I don't think babies have a cycling reflex yet, but they do famously have that swimming one and they kick their legs in that. So all you need to do is fill a bakfiet container with water, put a very well greased stoker rig down there, get a pair of SPD booties...

    Congratulations, too!

Thanks all. The sleeping lark is proving entertaining, particularly when he decides that the only place he'll sleep is lying on top of one of us. Still, mustn't grumble - I'm managing to work through a whole load of stuff on Netflix in the small hours.

    And yup, he's our first!

    Congrats to all the darkersides.

A new born baby weighs almost nothing (7,11 not insubstantial) but after a few weeks you suddenly feel a gain in substance, this is similar timing to your mind slowly realising what you have done and how you have become responsible for another human being's wellbeing. And you feel good about this. You get surprises like how much you actually like the fact they fall asleep on your chest etc.

As the time rolls by you get to a point where you start to feel you might possibly be getting a bit bored and then the really clever stuff starts. They start smiling at you or making the sound da da or mamma that almost every human on the planet interprets in the same way. Or they look right at you and light up or they start bum shuffling or sticking their hand in your mouth. Some very intelligent design has gone into the concept that engages the caregiver for a lifetime.

    Enjoy.

What gembo said. There's also the cheeky grin they give you when they are 3 steps up and check that you're watching before going further.

    Congratulations.
