Signs up showing that the next phase of resurfacing St John's Road starts in a few weeks. This will cover the section at the foot of Clermiston Road, so an ideal opportunity to install a pedestrian crossing. Does anyone know if this is part of the plan?

I thought it was only required due to the job being previously botched.

Really? I just scanned the notices so assumed it was a continuation of the previous works; didn't realise it was re-doing them. That's ridiculous.

The story was in the Evening News - a workman dropped his glove which stopped the cement setting properly. The glove rose to the surface a week or so later like a scene out a zombie film :)

The new signs say that work will take three weeks - surely that can't just be to patch the glove screw up?

"@edintravel: St John's Road / Clermiston Road junction upgrade (inc new crossing on Clermiston Road!) starts Mon 7th Sept for 3 weeks. 1/2 #edintravel"
Not sure where they got confirmation that a new crossing will be included. Excellent news if true.

Hard to believe, but this does seem to be true:

Don't get too excited just yet. 6 seconds of green man is quite tight but is followed by 3 secs of blank and 5 secs of red before SJR get a green light.
But the bigger issue is that on the first 2 sequences I saw had a car turn left from SJR whilst the green man was on (& only straight on arrow for them).
Hopefully it will improve as people get used to the new arrangements.
