    Just received an email:

We are launching an exciting community archaeological investigation at Saughton Park this week which features loads of community and family opportunities for people to get involved in. The programme is below and the dedicated website is at:

That's great news. Last time we went, September or Octoberish, there was sadly a lot of vandalism damage, kicked over walls, burnt hedges, smashed benches, ripped out plants and hedges ruined by jumping through / on them.

All likely the work of the usual "bored teens" suspects but I hope some of that £3.8m goes towards some improved security.

    Good news.

I visited the park for the first time to see the brass band Fanfare event in the festival last year. I was surprised how nice it was.

Saughton Park is really nice. They had a fabulous wild flower border last summer.

Saughton park has now partially reopened on the Northwestern half.

It is now possible to traverse the park SW to NE and vice versa by taking the doglegged path round the football pitches.

...we hope to have all of the new cycle paths in Saughton Park open to the public by the middle of August. The Walled Garden will remain closed until building works finish in December which will see the new toilets open and the new café ready for a tenant.

Cycling UK will have a brand new base in the park later this summer and will be offering cycling for all abilities.
