OTish - City Art Centre

    Not that OT given the number of interests in Edinburgh history active and lurking round these parts, stopped by the City Art Centre yesterday and there's a rather good 3-floor exhibition called "A Capital View - the Art of Edinburgh on". Hunners of great paintings, prints, maps and whatnots about Edinburgh and Leith over the centuries, from the earliest to the current. Everything from Henry Raeburns to John Bellanys.

    And it's free.

    Well worth an hour or so of viewing. I learnt a few things too!

    Aye, pity the bike parking rail is mostly obscured by commercial waste bins and planters (last time I looked anyway).

    Yes, great exhibition if you are remotely interested in the development of Edinburgh - also a history of art.

    I've seen a lot in previous exhibitions including this

    detail -

    (This panorama is older than you might think).

    Also reminded that D.O. Hill used to be a painter.

    Plus various references to Gowans (needs a show of his own).

    Nice pic, which I hadn't seen before.
