Okay folks, I want to reach out to those who may know a thing or two for information on School Travel Plans.

We have to update ours (it is really out of date), and I'm looking for information, guidelines, policies, etc. to share with teachers, pupils, parents at our primary school.

I know the basics, I've seen the (rather minimal) guidance CEC have produced regarding School Travel Plans, and I know of policies/plans like Edinburgh's ATAP.

Just wondering if anyone had links to/info about good practice, ideas, initiatives, projects, policies, guidance, etc.? As well as tips/hints on updating/producing a coherent plan document, I'm looking for examples of successful implementation.

If you have been involved in this, or know anything about it, please share. I'm in learning mode here so any and all contributions welcome.

Sustrans provide a short guidance note at:

TfL provides lots of resources for London schools - but much of it is only available to London schools who register for the STARS programme. There is still some useful stuff on the publicly available bit of the STARS website at:

Thanks Morningsider, very useful. I note that CEC has started participating in STARS but only 8 schools at the moment.

Good resources. I chuckled at this pupils' maths worksheet.

    "
Work out the following cycling problems:
    - Bradley Wiggins bought two new cycle
helmets for £825 each and three cycle
jerseys for £250 each. How much did
    Bradley Wiggins spend in total?
    "

I think I see the real reason some parents are being put off letting their kids cycle! (kidding)

"How much did Bradley Wiggins spend"

Nothing - that's what sponsors are for!

Your poll - are you interested in how individual posters travvelled to school XX years ago?

Not if it was so long ago you use roman numerals...

@fimm, aye, because I'm assuming no-one here is still at school. Also only a minority are parents of school age children.
