Hmm, I might have been interested in the offer (despite the fact that it would have required me to put the two recently defunct tyres back on my bike for the purpose of claiming), but they're only offering 700 size tyres.
I thought I saw something similar a month ago from Conti? But that offer was £15-20 max off new tyres when handing in old tyres?
This sounds good, does anyone know how it works - Do you need to book an appointment with shop or just roll up and get them to change them? Are Velo Ecosse the only lothian based store doing this?

@galaxy - only 3 participating I can find in Scotland - pasted below are the terms and conditions and details from the website if that helps…. 40 pairs per shop - 20 each of sizes 700x23 and 700x25 - shop may charge fitting fee apparently….

From 15th May until July 31st (or until dealer stocks run out), Continental are running a special promotion to celebrate the introduction of our new Grand Sport Race tyre. We want keen cyclists to try these tyres out for free! All we ask in return is that you hand over your old tyres (any non Continental brand) and that you also provide us with some feedback on your experiences with the new tyres, via the feedback form on this website.
We're offering both the 700x23 & 700x25 sizes of the tyre, plus two inner tubes, with a total market value of £71.88.
There are two ways in which to claim your free tyres, either via participating dealers (15th May - 31st July) or via some of the sportive events that Continental will be present at over the Springtime.
i) 25th May - Welsh Wild West Sportive (Aberystwyth)
ii) 8th June - Dragon Ride (Margam Park, South Wales)
iii) 22nd June - Dartmoor Classic Sportive

Terms of amnesty
The amnesty will run at participating dealers (Independent Bicycle Dealers) from 15th May until 31st July 2014 (or until dealer stocks run out).
Each dealer has received 20 pairs of the Grand Sport tyres (20 x 23mm & 20 x 25mm versions)
The dealer will fit two Grand Sport tyres and two Race28 inner tubes at his premises upon receipt of the customers old tyres (non Continental brand), which will be disposed of by the dealer.
No tyres or tubes will be handed over to any customer who does not present his/her bike for the fitting of the tyres.
Dealers may charge a tyre fitting fee.
Each dealer will receive a limited amount of tyres from Continental. If the dealers supply is exhausted prior to 1st June, then the offer is no longer available from that dealer.

Spot prizes will be awarded to customers who have submitted their feedback forms.
Dealers will only use these tyres for the Continental Tyre Amnesty and cannot use for regular aftermarket sales.
Dealers are obliged to take the old tyres from the customer, cut the beads and dispose of.
Continental will also provide this amnesty service at selected events through the Spring :
i) 25th May - Welsh Wild West Sportive (Aberystwyth)

iii) 22nd June - Dartmoor Classic Sportive
Each event will be limited to 100 tyres and fitting will take place on the eve of the rides where possible and on the morning on the rides. We are also able to fit tyres post event.
Customers old tyres will be taken from them and destroyed.
Tempting, except I just bought new tyres yesterday replacing worn Conti SuperSports...and I don't think my rims could safely fit 700x25.
Pity...
Grateful I didn't have a clearout of the old tyres in my hall cupboard recently - I may be making a trip up to Bruntsfield tomorrow!
Just called them and they are all gone, though expecting another batch next week apparently.
