@chdot: as indicated it may not be a Cooncil infrastructure, so may be in dispute with ScottishWater for responsibility for maintenance... just saying!...

But CEC would know who to talk to at SW?

Or just do the job and send a bill??

@chdot: Indeed you are right o Grasshopper! But large armies clash on the battlefield with slow and deliberate manoeuvres!

@chdot & RH, Hmmm, you'd think that two interested parties would communicate wouldn't you?

When I contacted Fife council initially about the grit problem on the A90 last year I got a short reply saying it was Bear Scotlands responsibility. When I then contacted Bear Scotland, their reply was equally curt, saying it was Fife Council's job. Only when I mentioned this in reply to Fife Council, did they go away and look at it (I presume) and then get back to me about clearing it up.

I've been speaking to my Councillor about other stuff, mentioned I would email her about the cover, have pictures now, email about to be sent...

When I reported the grit last year (pub, icly shaming and comparing to FRB bit of [path) I was told by Bear that they would sort it right away. They seemed to be happy to take responsibility then.

"Scottish Water are looking into it"

Is this accompanied by hand on hip, and rubbing of chin?

Scottish Water are looking into it.

It's ok, I've saved them the bother. It's dark and goes down at an angle, big enough for a small animal to go down, and big enough to give a Brompton tyre a real whack.

Yes but did you check/measure the fixing to see if they've got a cap that fits?

That thick, stripy, non-slip hazard tape they put over drain covers and potholes in the Grassmarket for the criterium racing would be perfect for a temporary repair.

They'd have to put something 'solid' underneath.

I'm sure the council owns some plywood and a coping saw.
