São Paulo infrastructure

    The (relatively recently) elected mayor of São Paulo has promised 400km of somewhat segregated infrastructure there - estimating a cost of 80 million Reals - something like 22 million pounds. I think it's mainly paint - you can see him cycling the first 1.6km here, but it's nice to see this as a priority in Brazil as well as from Peñalosa in Columbia...

    They need it, its IIRC the worlds most congested city, 200km traffic jams etc!

    It may be 'only' paint but it's a fantastic colour and wide as well

    Some positive responses but also quite a bit of negativity in the comments - some predictable EEN stuff about bicycles having to obey rules too, and someone nearly being hit by one. Some stuff about how it's not really prioritising the bicycle properly and that it's just a not very well-thought out fix (and probably political). Some people saying it's totally daft in such a city. One person (I think but it's very idiomatic) is saying that it's a vanity project which doesn't serve the poor areas where it might be most necessary....
