Apologies if this has been posted before and I missed it.
So, stopped in at Asda nr Fort Kinnaird this morning to get a couple of things. Locked bike up at the wheel benders next to the main entrance, And noticed a big poster/notice with "cycling advice" on it. Talk about the Niceway code! Basically telling cyclists what not to do to inconvenience motorists. (At least that was the message I took from it). I failed to see equivalent notices around the car park telling motorists to check before opening their doors, use indicators/mirrors etc. I will try to get a picture of the poster sometime. Not sure if this was Asda or some other organisations poster. Ah well, back to Tescos.

Had Asda not yet obscured the poster with their gardening display, as they are wont to do to their cycle parking at this time of year?

Each Asda store seems to have its own set up, so its not a global company policy thing.
eg
Asda Dunfermline:
No cycle stands whatsoever, but plenty room for them
Asda D-Bay:
Rack for three bikes, permanent fixture
no cycling advice poster

Tesco hermiston gait is also a joke. Cycvlists chain up all over the place, including at the railing next to emergency exit.
Clueless.

I recall thinking the Tesco-provided bike racks at Hermiston Gate were pretty flimsy. About 2 mins with a hacksaw and a bike would be a goner. Still, at least they've put provision near the entrance (unlike Asda, who treat all Edinburgh cyclists as undesirable aliens).
The best option is to use one of the covered bike park areas in the main car park eg just outside Decathlon, and walk an extra 100 yards.

There are plenty bike rails at Asda Newhaven at the other end,We asked them to move them out into the open because the first site was undercover, excellent for stealing, and they did, sheessh

I've always thought it was odd that there's a bike parking sign there and no bike racks, literally about two feet from the main entrance where people are streaming in and out.
Where do you mean by 'the other end'? If I plan to visit Asda Newhaven I always have the car.

Well there is only 2 doors,so there for,the café end

The south end, where the customer door is shut in the early evening. It's reasonably near the staff entrance and is possibly covered by CCTV but I'll still generally park at whatever happens to be available nearer the north door when parking there after dark when the other doors are shut.

I've found myself just taking my bike into the Tesco's at Hermiston Gate.
What's weird is that no one seemed to even raise an eyelid.
