Anyone going down to watch the TdF?
We're going to stay in Sedbergh and "pop" over to Hawes.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Whatever you do, don't stay here;
Can't read the name on the sign and can't remember it....but a severe Basil Fawlty alert.
Mates of ours are going down, but I can't quite bring myself to go that far to see something that should really only be seen from the side of a road in La France profonde. Just saying.
Phew - not staying there!
I've seen the Giro in Italy and I am looking forward to the contrast. We'll need to cycle in - that should be interesting as my OH hasn't rode for a while.
The bloke that runs it is one of the most misogynistic characters I've ever met. At one point he congratulated Madame IWRATS on being able to operate a cafetiere all by herself. This despite the fact she arrived on a large motorcycle. He has no idea how close he came to a kinetic engagement.
Giro vs Yorkshire Tour should be intriguing.
Yep we're off down to stay with pals in cracoe for the weekend.
Nope, We have mates though who are going down and paying a rediculous amount of cash to sleep in their own tent in a famous parkland. Mugs!
one of my former students says they're going past his window!
We've been to every Grand Depart that's started on the British Isles (including the Dublin one) but I think we'll give this one a skip. It's just got too huge and too complicated to arrange and it sounds as if it would be too expensive now too. It's a shame because they're usually good fun - as long as you don't expect to get any idea of what's going on in the race...

Tea in bidons?
" too expensive"
By booking accommodation outside Yorkshire (but only 15 miles from Buttertubs), we managed to get away with standard B & B rates.

It has been one of my life aims for the last twenty years to legitimately acquire that iconic piece of headgear known as the 'bob Ricard'. They're thrown to the crowd from the cavalcade that precedes the riders and then worn with pride by middle aged men wearing office shirts and the nylon shorts from their youth on myriad campsites all summer long.
I'm hoping that this time Tetley's-branded flat caps will be distributed. Or Yorkshire Tea-branded kufis maybe?
At the Giro, I picked up a load of pink tat (cap, clappy hands, tee-shirt, socks) and never had the guts to wear them since. David Millar was in pink that day too.
"Tea in bidons?"
Well, riders do actually drink tea on cold stages, or in the case of Luca Paolini during this year's Milan-Sanremo, pouring it over his frozen hands!
For the most part, Ireland made a fantastic job of putting on the Grande Partenza. A few of the volunteer marshals were a little lacking, and the police didn't have outriders standing on traffic islands to warn of the hazard, but aside from that it was a great experience, despite (and sometimes because of) the weather.
Yorkshire is used to staging different incarnations of the Tour of Britain so I would expect them to do it well enough. And they can't be blamed for not having the Pyrenees! ;-)
I was down there on Friday, school trip.
Some of the hotels have yellow bikes fixed on the outside walls.
