"All I think about is riding my bike"

The kids who skateboard in George Square on Friday (and other) afternoons have made my life miserable for years. Thought it would stop when my office moved from southside to northside, but no...they moved too. Suppose the bikes are slightly less noisy, but I am not sympathetic to this "There aren’t many people around among the university buildings" which totally ignores anyone inside trying to get work done. Sorry to sound unreconstructed, but these kids are a PAIN.

Hey!! I WAS one of those kids...........in 1988.
BUT the other week I was sitting in george square with a few other cyclist mates having a "wee chat" when the Janitor came and shooed us away. I was gobsmacked as I haven't had a chase off a janny for 20 odd years but just as I was about to give him the Vicky V's and run away one of our group (a student at the university) started to boar him to tears talking about the structural engineering properties of the new building they have there and the janny just walked away shaking his head.

Our servitors (what a pompous name eh?) are lovely, lovely blokes. With a few exceptions (always to be found), they are helpful and friendly, and put up with a lot.

when I worked in height safety I dealt with them on a few occasions and have to agree with you there.,,,,but servitors? ridiculous name.......

they are called Serivce Support Officers in schools now... Sheesh
Also I agree, the skaters in Bristo Sq need to get on a bus down to the new skate park
Chased one of them with a sword once when they threw a bottle which hit my wife when we were there doing a comic relief thing once...Posted 14 years ago # -

You whaaAAaaaA??? Not a real sword surely?? Not that I condone the throwing of bottles at people's wifes you understand.
The skaters at bristo have been there since time immemorial. It's a great place to skate.

"The skaters at bristo have been there since time immemorial. It's a great place to skate." And there's not much in the way of offices there (mainly just the health clinic) unlike George Square, which is pretty densely used inside and out.

@recombodna - no not a real one, a fake one, but they can still hurt
Point is they objected to us being in "their" space and I refused to accept such rejection@SRD - yes but there is plenty stairs and stone work for them to damage

@SRD oh GEORGE SQ !! Surely more suited to bikes though on account of the cobbly bits? I never skated there and I never threw any bottles at people.....I was a good boy!
honest your honour!

@recombodna - oh I wish, the wee nyaff's act of defiant very quickly turned into a whimpering coward running for his mummy
