Has anyone been round Inveraray on a bike? Looking for a short route that's quiet for the slightly nervous SO. Could drive a bit to go for a cycle (even though I hate that idea!)

Hi TWQ. Maybe Argyll Caravan Park to Furnace would of interest. see http://www.argyll-bute.gov.uk/sites/default/files/C199%20Furnace%20to%20Inveraray%20via%20Kenmore.pdf and http://goo.gl/maps/wA8N5. It should have nearly no motor vehicles on it, looks fairly level, and the surface might not be too rough. I've not cycled it but have been on the northern part by foot, which with a bit of work could be extended to a good cycle link between Inveraray and the caravan park. Roads round there weren't busy but outside town some have fast traffic and not much width.

You wouldnt regret going from Lochgilphead to Crinan and many of the roads down there. Beautiful roads mostly dead flat and quiet. Canal path is very nice too. Good cafe @ crinan, and you can go over the small hill down to tayvalich, scenery is fantastic.
Makes a short drive to lochgilphead well worth it.

Difficulty with Inveraray is that there's 3 roads in and out, and they're all A roads and busy with tourist traffic and all the Tarbert, Lochgilphead and Campbletown traffic too. The roads around Crinan and Kilberry are nice. There's of course the canal towpath too.

The road down the east shore of Loch Fyne I imagine is quiet
