Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

I can remember vividly learning to ride without stabilisers. I would have been four, because we were still living in Newcastle, and there was a path between our house and fields on the left, with a fence separating it, and for some reason I was more scared of falling into the fence than the wall of the house...
I recall leaning over to the side cycling with stableisers on but I clearly recall my dad removnig them and walking with me to steady me with them removed. He quietly letgo and I didn't notice until I'd cycled half way up the street. Happy times. :D

I remember seething with rage when one of my pals learned to ride a bike before I did! It still grates to this day, Richard, if you're reading this.
It spurred me on to learn the next day and I remember careering down a wee footpath beside my house with a big smile on my coupon.
Another stabiliser memory for me.
Falling off when cornering at speed because the stabiliser didn't let me lean over as much as Barry Sheene used to... Think I lost a tooth in the incident.
I remember my dad teaching me when we were at RAF Leuchars, so I couldn't have been more than 4. My bike was yellow and blue.
I was three and my brother tied my trike to the back of his bike so I could go faster being towed by him. My saddle fell off and I was towed along sans trike instead. Ouch. I also remember my first time trying to ride without stablisers.
My tire exploding after my big brother blew it up too much....remarkably loud.
My Dad coming home with a bicycle - for me! And I told him I wanted it to be painted red.
I also remember, aged 6 or so, crying and running home after being laughed at by all my friends because I hadn't yet learned to ride my bike without stabilisers. I think my Dad taught me pretty soon after that.
