The ERC Inch Park Cyclo-Cross is a youth only cyclo-cross event organised by the ERC Juniors. It's an ideal introduction to cyclo-cross for those who have never raced before and a perfect warmup event to the Scottish CX series for experienced riders.

Races for Under 8s to Under 16s.

anyone else heading to this? Looks like as lovely a day as last year.

My 7yo's in the 'under 10' category rather than 'under8's . She's still on her wee bike. Not sure how it's going to pan out.

Forecast looking great. Bigger turnout than last year expected..150+ kids. And home baking!

Last year I thought some of the kids were taking it too seriously, this year it was some of the parents!

    Is that an admission...

Well, I did do little sideline coaching, but mostly stuff that she should have learned from coaching/before riding: keep pedaling! Don't take the corner too tightly; change gears, and maybe one 'overtake!'. (She's not got very competitive instincts; probably just as well).

But I think I avoided the excesses of some parents - there was foul language involved, also parents running the length of the course coaching their kids, and others giving them updates of who was ahead of them by name ie 'you can catch so and so' etc.

Oh yes, but she also got lapped a few times!

She really enjoys it, but to be any good, she'd need to train, and she refuses to consider that. Not sure why. Just as well, since she's already busy, but too bad.

Oh, and at least one parent who appeared to be helping their own child over the hurdles, but not others....and not in the babies race either...

My proudest moment was when my exhausted daughter insisted in carrying her own bike up to our 3rd floor flat, even though I offered to help.

I came across the ghostly tracks of this event on Saturday evening as I walked home from the shops.

Looked like a nice course. Sorry to hear talk of training, coaching and winning in a kids' event.
