Well I'll be glad when it's over. Frankly I've found it overbearing - there's been a lot of mud-slinging both ways and many arguments have been frankly rubbish and often personal. It's true that much of what I've "allergic" to has been on Twitter but by no means all. As a scientist, I feel uncomfortable with irrational arguments and with uncertainty dressed up as certainty. I've also felt that being blasted the opinions of friends & acquaintances an uncomfortable experience - I guess this was to be expected given the importance of the debate. Anyway I'm glad this bit is over with, though the next chapter is sure to bring challenges whatever the outcome.

YES and No voters were today urged to show a spirit of unity in a bid to heal the tensions of the referendum campaign.

Church of Scotland Moderator the Rt Rev John Chalmers called for people to go to vote “with cool heads and calm hearts”.

Well my train left too early for me to vote this morning, so it will have to be late afternoon, which I expect will be a busy time at the polling station.

Up in Dundee, polling station on Perth Road seemed pretty quiet at 8.30am, at least outside. Presume it will get busier once the weather's less dreich.

Polwarth pavements busy, but no queues at polling station.

not impressed by the house next to the church, with massive No posters on their walls, right opposite the entrance to the polling station.

No queue in Dalgety Bay at 07.15, but a steady stream of voters arriving. The 'yes' and 'no' reps (who were chatting at the door in a civilised manner) were more than happy to keep an eye on my bike while I went in and made my mark. Which was, and remains, a private matter.

ACCORDING to the demographics and pollsters, I’m a shoo-in for the “No” campaign.

I’m a woman, old and I live in one of the more affluent areas of Edinburgh.

Clearly Better Together assume I’m one of theirs as the only thing I’ve had from them was a single leaflet shoved through my door by a wee guy who told me he’d been paid to do it.

In contrast the Yes volunteers have been at my door, willing to engage in debate and discussion more often than double glazing salesmen.

One of the wee shops on Gorgie Road has a blackboard outside usually advertising some offer. Today it reads "Yes or No Please Vote".

Ha! People must be able to tell by my scowl of unremitting negativity which way I am going to vote, cos yet another Yes car tried to take me out with a right hook on the way to the polling place. Wasn't particularly close. Roseburn certainly had a bit of activity when I went in at 10:30 but it wasn't exactly rammed. I seemed to be the youngest there by 30 years (& I'm 50) so given the location I suspect the Yes people standing outside weren't getting too many friendly vibes.
Funnily enough when I got the ballot paper I experienced that brain fade you get in an exam when you have revised everything, the correct question comes up but you can't remember what the answer is! Thank God there weren't three options.

We had a new washing machine delivered this morning. The delivery driver told Josie that if we'd had a YES poster in our front window, he would have attempted to deliver outside the allotted 6 hour window. The No Poster did the trick it appears!

Glasgow/Mount Florida was busy at 0800 but flowing. Suspect it would've been heaving first thing, which I why I elected for a lie in...

Pleasingly, the sheffield stands outside the school are yarn-bombed (and have been for ages, but it still makes me smile). Good for the bike paintwork!
