The turnout shows the level of engagement that can be achieved when people see that a vote actually means something and will have a tangible effect. Something for the professional politicians to think about. Offer a real choice and people might be engaged...

@GeorgeFoulkes: Whatever the result of IndyRef we need to start looking at reversing centralisation & more devolution & decentralisation WITHIN Scotland.

    Remind me who he is/was.

Actually I remember when he was an Edinburgh councillor. Did quite a lot of good stuff. Even started the Meadows Festival.

    Ah, Lord Foulkes.

I sat in front of him and another Lord (who I didn't recognise) on a late night plane home from London City. Both appeared to have been enjoying the subsidised bar at the House. Foulkes snored loudly the whole way back.

Portobello was very busy this morning and I had to queue. The Green Yes team were very good at keeping an eye on my bike!

Polling station was busier than I've seen it, not hard mind but still. I'm curious to see the turn out almost as much as the result.

If they are going to be relying on helicopters getting the votes to Ingliston I wouldn't set your alarm clock too early. Low cloud & fog

Got home three hours ago, visited the polling station on the way back from Waverley.

Must have timed it perfectly as surprisingly unbusy: I mean folk were entering and leaving but fairly quiet. Chatted to the folk at the desk and they said they expected it to be much busier from 5pm onwards.

Good crowd of Yes and No activists outside the polling station. On fella confused me for a moment with his green "HOW NO?" badge. A Yes bloke asked to read my t-shirt, which was partly obscured by jaiket. I showed him: "Another Scotland is possible,"

It's pretty unbelievable to think a polling station in Falkirk has already closed because it's had 100% turnout #indyref

Turnout at my polling station in East Dunbartonshire is an amazing 85%. Still two hours to go. #indyref

Apparently we were at 18% turnout by 10am, and some poll stations have closed having reached 100% turnout! Proud of Scotland! #indyref

Claire Perry, the rail minister, has become the first Conservative frontbencher to join the growing rebellion over promises to giveScotland more powers regardless of the referendum result, by warning against "promises of financial party bags".
