I need a replacement front shifter, a Shimano Sora 3500 double for flat bars that I managed to break. I think this is what I need.

Anyone got one lying around? Failing that, I'm annoyed by the idea of having to buy a pair. Anyone got any ideas on sourcing just the front shifter.

Lastly, for the front (two speed) a simple thumb shifter would be just fine and, I thought, a lot cheaper, except nobody seems to make them any more. Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

I don't know whether a Claris Double 8 speed might work. This is much cheaper - you'd buy the pair but just use the front. I am not sure whether it's compatible though.

tHERE'S NO SHORTAGE OF (SORRY WAS TYPING SQL) front shifters in the parts bins at the Bike Station. They're so nice they'll probably rake through them if you phone....

Hadn't thought of The Bike Station, thanks for that. Will take a wander over sometime and see what they have.
