This evening I am going in to edinburgh to listen to some talk about the internet and technology at 8PM. I could always go to this while I wait what does this entail?

    "what does this entail?"

    Who knows...

Turn up at foot of The Mound (galleries' piazza) and follow a not-leader around central Edinburgh and leave when you choose.

entails cycling as slowly as possible on the carriageway. Usually, also enjoyably noisy. I have bought too many messages, have old slow bike due to puncture on other commuting vehicle and it is into v strong wind so I may find myself in it dependent on route. Though better half does not want me sloping home late as my mother is arriving (have coulters candy for her) and son is involved in concert party. So shall check times/route in link above.

I may join in this month if I'm passing the Meadows at the right time - last month I was passing at the right time, but I was put off by the fact that I didn't have lights, snacks or water with me and also because I was tired, hungry, slightly ill and very nearly at home on a wettish evening. Even so, I was still tempted by the various calls to "join us" as I cycled by the group on NMW (the fact that Vangelis was emitting from the hifi system and that somebody admired my bike also helped), and I went as far as asking two questions as I passed:

    Q. Where are you going? A: Wherever we want!

    Q. How long will you be out for? A: As long as we want!

(I should have pre-empted the second answer perhaps...)

Went today for first and probably last time.

If I ever want to ride in achingly slow aimless circles through the centre of town with a whole bunch of other people who can't hold a line - well, I'll know where to go.

@dougal - that is the worst case scenario definition Angus was after at the top of the thread. I.e. largely pointless, often good fun and occasionally controversial

I happened to run across it in the Meadows and pootled along for a bit.

Rather slower than cycling with the kids...

I think I'm too much of a utility cyclist to be the target demographic, I'm usually attempting to get from A to B!
