"A CYCLIST has been seriously injured after being hit by a car in South Queensferry.

The accident happened on the westbound A904 near the junction with Headrig Road.

The male cyclist was taken to hospital with a serious head injury, and has been placed in an induced coma."

    Seems it's a hit and run :(

Not good at all - thoughts are with the cyclist and family.

Good grief! That's terrible. I hope that the cyclist recovers quickly and fully and that their family are OK. And that they catch the offending driver.

Another needless tragedy. I hope there is the happiest possible outcome from the induced coma.

I don't think it's our towns/cities that are the most dangerous places to cycle, it's the semi-rural A roads where cyclists are obliged to share the roads with 60mph+ traffic. A look back at the sad and far too long list of recent cycling fatalities in Scotland would anecdotal support this.

Looking at Google maps, think this will be someone coming form the Bo'Ness direction - can't imagine that anyone would go that way from Fife to Edinburgh, unless it was an extended training ride.

Hope teh cyclist makes a full recovery.

Agreed, I pick my routes by the speed traffic can drive at and try to avoid sharing the road with anything driving at over 40mph. Cycle paths best of all. I know my chances are slim after contact at 40mph, but it's also the rush of air from a close passing 60+ mph vehicle is very unsettling.

Headrig road is the junction for the old Digital site, that area is a complete mess with the new forth crossing junction being built and all of the construction traffic.
The local CC facebook page says that the Police are looking for a white Audi TT, happened around 7.30am

That's very bad. I found myself round that area a while ago after losing my way as the normal route through Hopetoun House was closed. Very messy, very scary, and the traffic fast moving.
