    Two new access points have been created onto the WoL path on either side of the former Splash Bathroom warehouse. Looks like up onto lanark road along to just bikes then half way down the road take a right and back on

    Not happened yet but definitely up to something. The warehouse has been gutted and tree roots dug out from side of building. The wrong route beyond the boulders which finishes in a dead end has also been receiving attention.

    Sorry if I'm being dense gembo. Are you suggesting the two new access points are going to be detours while some work is done? Ie temporary closure of path?

    I have been wondering what they were for. I did think they might be to do with developments at the old mill site past Juniper Green (aka Gembo's 'wrong way route').

    I'm sure I heard somewhere that the former station site (where the Splash Bathroom showroom was) is to be developed as housing but I could be completely wrong. That might be the reason but I couldn't see why that would necessitate closing the walkway as there's plenty of space. A much tighter site was developed recently just a bit further towards Currie without any closure.

    There is a planning application in for conversion of the brick warehouse to townhouses. I suspect gembo knows that, but it isn't specifically mentioned above. The new paths may just be access for building rather than a diversion. Hopefully.

    Proposed conversion (change of use) of existing brick built disused warehouse facility to form 6 residential units with associated gardens (as amended)

    5 bedrooms, 3 storeys and ample parking. Probably will result in a new boundary fence between the development and the path, which runs right against the boundary. It looks like a lot of the existing structure is to be retained, a rare touch in "rip it up and start again" Edinburgh.

    The WoL Conservation Trust added the following to the consultation;

    The boundary treatment between the back of the property and the walkway as there is not much space, we would like to know what materials will be used and how high it would be, the removal of trees from this area does not concern us.
    This is a popular access point for the walkway and we would hope that the road would not become private and prevent people access in the river and walkway at this point. The other concern would be access to parking space and the walkway for our many river clean-ups and maintenance tasks in the area. Could we still drive onto the walkway at this site, could we use the area for parking and rubbish uplifts?
    We would also request that any new trees planted in the area were native to the river bank - except within the formal garden areas which are limited.
