Kids helmets - weight?

    * As with other children's helmets threads I'd like to ask for immunity from 'debate' about the principles of h*#mets here *

My youngest has outgrown his second helmet. I'd been intending to get him a red kiddimoto helmet mainly cause they look cool. But I picked one up at the nearly new sale and was struck by how heavy it was. I can't find weight specs for them online.

Does anyone have one they could weigh for me? his head is 53 cm now so he'd need a medium size (another confusion is that kiddimoto says they have 3 sizes - S/M/L - but chain reaction says they sell S-M and M-L (I'm assuming that this is because they're in the kids section, so they L is actually an adult size??)

Any advice on comparative weight would be helpful. At least one of the other websites says weight 'from...' Which I suspect means that weight is for their smallest helmet. So tricky to compare to equivalent Medium.

Don't think anyone is going to start arguing against personal/parental choice.

I have sent home a request for a Specialized Flash to be weighed, seeing as the internet won't tell me. The Which? review might have done, but it's not visible without registration.

I believe Which is viewable on-line at the Central Library (you have to ask).

I have appended a request to confirm that it's a Specialized Flash which has been requested to be weighed.

My kids have Bell helmets, which t'internet tell me should be 310 grams.

I could check they actually weigh that tonight.

A Giro Flume (50-57cm) is 250g (258g on the label). The Specialized Flash must have been the one with insufficient adjustability of the straps.

maybe i'm being unfair to kiddimoto. found at least one blog describing it as lightweight. and this from an 'evans staff member': Boxed product Weight is 467g , you will be looking at approx 300g.

then again, this discussion seems to confirm what i thought: http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/what-helmet-style-for-a-4-5-year-old

maybe the uvex is the way to go... (which doesn't review their kids helmets, or the kiddimoto ones as far as I can tell).
