    It would be rude not to attend CCE's fifth birthday party. I shall secure;

    1) permission to start late at work
    2) a mortgage to fund coffee, juice and cake purchase

    No need to exaggerate IWRATS. Selling a kidney should suffice.

    @Min

    For medical or culinary purposes?

    Ewww!

    I was thinking medical but people will pay a high price for anything considered to be a gourmet treat.

    Well my kidneys come ready marinated in the finest wines available to humanity so I suppose they could constitute the basis of a new food fad.

    I think my coffee-and-lemonpoppyseedcake came to something between £4 and £5 last time I made it to one of these. The coffee seemed very slightly less rank than I remembered it being before.

    Statutory reminder -

    For newcomers (ALL welcome) -

    "Normally from 7.30 to 8.30 for most folk."

    Some people hang on past nine.

    In the past there have been 'two sittings' - 'early people' and 'after about half eight' (obviously with overlaps).

    Nice to see DaveC, Greenroofer, Gembo and Chrisfl this am plus someone with two kids and an excellent transporter bike as I was leaving. No cake means I can afford to eat the rest of the day.

    Ditto: good to put faces to (user)names. Weezee (who arrived as amir was leaving) put up very patiently with all our questions about her splendid bike. It was nice to see two mini-Weezees too, who were very charming.

    Had a good ride west with chrisfl. My goodness the towpath is busier at 0845 than it is at 0730!

    My first PY and a lovely welcome from some familiar names. @Greenroofer, the 'charm' factor increases when in proximity to chocolate cake :-)

    Special thanks to Dave for behelmeting one of my errant children and chasing the other down and depositing him into the bike. This made them giggle a lot.

    "putting up with my scamply boy"

    Don't worry, he is just another person with a different view of life.

    CCE is full of them.
