I appreciate that this is a bit like asking the correct length for a piece of string, but I'm thinking of replacing the saddle my second-hand Brompton came with as it's getting a bit tatty and it's never been that comfortable. It doesn't appear to be a special Brompton saddle, just a bog-standard plastic fairly wide saddle. On my big bike I've got a Brooks B67S which was comfy from day one, and it seems you can put one on a Brompton but I tend to carry mine by the saddle and I can't see that working with any of the Brookses (and besides it weighs enough as it is). I don't do massive distances on the Brompton - maybe 8 miles to the station plus whatever is at the other end, and I like to ride it fairly upright so something fairly wide appeals. The current standard Brompton saddle looks quite narrow to me. Can I put any old saddle on a Brompton?

"Can I put any old saddle on a Brompton?"
Yes. (Or new...)
Only thing to know/need is the saddle clip - bits of metal between the seatpost and saddle rails.
Some cheap saddles don't have detachable ones. Most 'expensive' saddles don't come with them as 'most' bikes have micro-adjusting seatposts.
Clips can be fiddly!
