I came home on the last train from Edinburgh tonight my bike was first in the rack then 3 other people appeared. When I got of the train I noticed my front brake was not working.

The front brakeset where the cable connects is bend out of shape, it may have been weakened when I adjusted it on Saturday before i cycled to fife, I don't know.

What I wondered is do I need an extract replacement part. I have a 2014 pinnacle lithium 1 it has Brakeset:
Tektro 837AL V but i see evens does not sell this brakeset.

    Will other brakesets fit?

I can still connect the break but the slightest pressure upwards it comes of, where it connects is bent out of shape The gator has also spit.

So my question is, are the brakeset mountings unique on a bike or will other sets fit. The pinnacle lithium is quite a budget bike so don't mind paying more to fix and getting a better part.

Any set of V-brakes should fit.

However from your description I'm unsure what exactly is broken and you may not need a new brake set. Is it the noodle (the curved metal tube the cable goes through before it clamps to the brake)? If so, you just need to buy a new one of those - again any make will fit and for the front brake you'l likely need one with a 90 degree bend.

Hi Ed1, like Cyclops I'm wondering if you can describe in more detail the bit which is bent. Many v-brake parts are replaceable without replacing the whole brake set.

That said, I've got a single set of Avid Single Digit Ti brakes which have been sitting doing nothing for the last few years, which you'd be welcome to have (offer open to all CCE'ers obviously). Essentially, these.

"the part that quick releases, its bent out of shape"

These *can* be squeezed back with a pair of pliers.

    But

If that easy to bend, better with better.

Could try Bike Station first - drawer full (some might be OK).
