Ivor maybe founded slow bike movement, anyway if not familiar with his oeuvre, get googling.

Prompted to raise this as bought an Adrian Crowley CD today from my good friends at FOPP ( gave me a basement jaxx musette to avoid the 5 p carrier bag charge). Adrian covers Squeeze Bees by Ivor. Best track on album and huge old favourite of mine.

Basically a blind man sits at the foot of a tree trying to find love and catch bees to squeeze them for their honey. A blind woman comes down the tree and let's him squeeze her and make lots of honey which is not the same as money but is Ok

One could hear the fathers of heavily−built daughters from Troon to Aberfeldy beginning to tremble again.

What, I thought I could get away with that because CHDot said he could not remember all the threads fm one day to next. Ah, but he is big Ivor fan.

Also major reciprocal spot of diarmid at lights and me dressed as jogger with bicycle eating car t-shirt.

I'm still upset at myself for hesitating in mid-stride outside the Queen's Hall in the early noughties and walking back to my Scotch sitting room for some gruts instead of buying tickets to see Ivor.

I'm still mourning the fact that in 1998 I lent my 1984 edition of 'Life In A Scotch Sitting Room, Vol. 2" to a jobbing actor of my acquaintance, after a party where I had led recitals from the book.

It was never returned. I still harbour a grudge against said actor.

I have that very edition. Perhaps you could get in touch with Spoon Control, see if they know where your copy is?

Gave a copy of this to an American woman called Katherine Wydler. In 1984. True tho I have misspelt her first name for reasons of anonymity. She was exceptionally underwhelmed. I however was completely whelmed. As I love Ivor. The R4 show about him last year is great where they all pretend to be at a party.

    "People’s Postcode Lottery Goose Breakfast"

A very Cutlerian notion to my mind.

The Wikipedia article about him describes him as a "noted eccentric", with his "travelling mainly by bicycle" as one of the indicators of this!

I'd heard him on John Peel when younger but never really got it. I may give him another go as I think I'll probably be more receptive nowadays, being a bike-riding eccentric myself.
