WHITE lines will no longer be painted on football pitches across the city under new plans deemed “horrendous” by clubs.

Cash-strapped council chiefs want to use chemicals to “burn” longer-lasting markings into the grass instead in a bid to cut costs.

They could buy a job lot of jumpers from Primark and supply them to the clubs to use as pitch markings.

I would have thought that people playing football = more fit healthy people = less cost to society.

All the choices are like that - switch off street lights cause crime/ accidents

I say bring back congestion charge and generate revenue. The SNP lab coalition would need to promise not to renege but both do this. Parking also back up again.

They do not really have other sources except maybe from lets, but maybe teams could paint their own lines?

    Council tax frozen?

This week I had holiday in edinburgh, gallery of modern art, portrait gallery, tram, FOPP obviously and some great city walks. Great place but believe council has a black hole, see also other local authorities.

This was going to happen just after reffy regardless

They could charge more for housing the council waste a lot of money under renting. The housing is not means tested there is no annual review of circumstances or means Even when unemployed I could not get council flat yet people on 30k in council houses and no means tested etc other than initial application. The council waste a lot of money on non means tested perks. Of course politically kind of have too. I support a freeze as like other areas of government services often appear offered on a political rather than need or circumstance basis. Cycling of course is open to all a personal freedom the sort of thing should spend money on cut the favour and political transfers I would say. Don't mean to be overly insulting to the council would say the same of all levels of government remember when at university and the Scottish government threated to cut my grant illegally not based on circumstances or means never really been that keen on big government since willy nilly ,discriminatory and political transfers at times student funding to this day is largely exempt from equalities act in pratice.
