"I may be let out for good behaviour"
Is that good behaviour to date, or special good behaviour over the next week?
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

31st now out in front. When are we closing?
I vote we are now closed and we are saying argyle without arms 8 pm on Halloween?
meh. I can't make the 31st, but can make the 1st. Just to confuse things further
Well, it looks like it's the 31st at the Argyle.
Have fun folks!
Just checked with Argyle Bar and the downstairs is free on Friday 31st. So 'booked' for CCE (they call it the 'alcove' but people should descend to 'the cellar monkey'). Signs?
Chances are I won't make it as taking two days off next week. Numbers wise I said there could be around 12 max from around 7.30. Maybe optimistic.
Any changes can give them a phone - just checking no Haloween events were on.
Thanks laidback, now we need to try to minimise call offs
If my plane is late and make me miss Hallcross I'll come along!
I was in the argyle last night. Two families one with baby and other with toddler. I tried my trick with the beer mat. Well anyone can do it, you just flip it up and catch it. Still pressure on but managed it. Child unimpressed. Dad on the ball.
Child unimpressed.
Next time, record it onto an iPhone, then show that to the kid. That will get their attention.
I am unlikely to make it but if I do I will be dressed in 1920's gear.
1920's cycling gear??
Certainly not. I'll be in my finery. Nothing but the best to view the finest German eyebrow acting in existance.
The first time the usher hall did this was a silent movie called Sunrise and had Lambchop as a backing band.
I was in my 1920s finery and the gig had been advertised as having velvet drapes and cigarette girls. None of this appeared and I wrote expressing my disappointment and they gave me tickets for the next silent movie with live music which was a horror at hallowe'en which they have continued with to great effect.
That sounds like it must have been a long time ago!
I love old horror films and Donald MacKenzie is amazing. I look forward to this event every year. :-)
@min maybe ten years ago
Showing silent movies with organist maybe happened in the usher hall prior to this, e.g. In the 1920s. I was only referring to the re-enactment of such events.
I was just thinking it must be a long time since smoking was allowed at the cinema. I wasn't suggesting you were ancient enough to remember it the first time round. :-p
It may well go without saying, but may I suggest that @chdot should at no point be allowed to put his hand in his pocket? Even if he turns up in 1920s cycling garb. Pretty sure I owe him a pint at least.
I'm in.
IWRATS - excellent suggestion.
How's the bike parking at/in the vicinity of the Argyle Bar?
racks outside, across the road and also down the street a wee bit.
Alternate racks outside the scotmid.
Ideal. Thanks, @ARobComp
I just saw a recipe for a chocolate stout cake.
I'm unfortunately busy else I might have finally made an appearance at a CCE meet-up. Maybe the next evening one.
Whee! I think I can come too.
5 today.
About this time of day, if I remember rightly.
Seems like yesterday?
According to my profile it then took me exactly a month to join.
So 20:00 on Friday 31st?
December before I stopped lurking.
yep. 20:00 on Friday. I might be late depending on whether I end up going to London or not. July 2010 for me.
