    @fimm I did say cheerio to you but we were not formally introduced. However, I feel you won best anorak, it was lovely. I was the one looking like Hugh MacDiarmid's haircut. Kaputnik said this. I said I was going more for david lynch but it is the same cut.

    Hugh MacDiarmid's Haircut also the name of a band from back in the day.

    @steveo Can I recommend Havana Club 7 year old rum, it does not give you a hangover

    Alex Norton is the actor to play the mature alex salmond. He plays the lanternist and seven other roles in Bill Douglas's film Comrades about the Tolpuddle Martyrs. Also the guy in taggart after original taggart's liver gave way.

    As Marv from Sin City said: I wake up and my head feels three sizes too big.

    Looking at this via train wi-fi. Really glad it was a good turnout but sad to have missed it.

    Mrs LB and I did our own late summer celebratory cycle. 55 miles due to no trains south of Perth. Cycled over to Ladybank and bike is folded neatly in vestibule as bike spaces full of luggage. Guard fine though.

    Next time..

    Good to see everyone. There was so many people I was very impressed. Shame I couldn't stay longer but there were many parties to be visited!

    Thank you. It is a nice anorak. It was a present from Boyfriend's mother. She got it in Lidl or Aldi (which isn't called Aldi in Austria) (I can tell from the label). This is not a problem because it is a nice anorak!

    I'd like to point out a couple of things;

    1) Darkerside is a cheerful young man, not at all a Darth Vader look-a-like.
    2) I am reasonably slim, not at all a Jonny Vegas look-a-like.

    Turns out that these were generally held views on CCE.

    I find the mask and cloak a little warm for regular wear.

    I met Darkerside before mini Darkerside came along (or was it just before he was on the bike seat?). He was certainly cheerful at the time but I wonder if his cheerfulness has increased now that he has a passenger.

    Nice to meet people & sorry to have had to leave early.

    @SRD - I bought the shopping pannier in purple paisley & also a laptop pannier in pale blue and white (a bit risky). They're ridiculously cheap.

    Glad you found them. am contemplating the laptop bag too. thinking maybe the purple?? (like you say, a bit risky).... please let me know what you think when it arrives.

    @SRD Very pleased with shopping bag. It's sturdy and my women friends have admired it. I will take it to work so can shop at lunchtime looking smart. Only one cavil - if you take it as a shopping bag on the bus it's an awkward size as its stiffness means it doesn't sit on your lap without poking the person next to you.

    Light blue laptop case - it looks good for taking round fragile objects but I don't really take my laptop with me so will probably not get much use.

    Am looking for light and preferably cheap pannier for day trips - to take an extra fleece, lunch and snacks and repair gear. I don't like wearing a backpack and my touring Altura pannier is heavy. Any ideas?

    .@rosie the EBC panniers own brand are light, not waterproof but come with a rain cover. Made by Vaude. Get some reductions in their sales.

    The lightest ebc ones are sold singly and don't come with a rain cover.

    Not bad, but you can't ride without doing up the straps, because of the design, which I find a pain.

    7th anniversary is 2 months away pretty much.

    Time to put this thread back on topic and organise a drink?

    A chance to talk about, er, bikes, cycling, campaigning, activism...*

    * other subjects are available.

    Where? Centre so we can drink and get train / bus home or outskirts where we can cycle to and have a relax and something to eat?

    where?
    Akva seemed popular last time? Easy to cycle to, plenty space out back to park a bike, plenty space up or down stairs for a large group. 5-10 mins walk from Haymarket. Sort of half-way between the Polwarth and Meadows centres of CCE gravity.

    I even got BoF to come to Akva....

    (OT, but seeing as it was mentioned at the canal barge coffee, BoF has been upgraded to FoF :) I might continue to refer to BoF on here, just because...)
