The first question everyone always asks us after each Pedal on Parliament is – are you doing it again? And then, before we’ve even answered that, the second question is ‘when?’

Well, the latest government budget – as our response makes clear, shows that the government still don’t get the fact that investing in cycling will benefit everyone – not least themselves. And so, yes, we’re doing it again.

The details will become clear soon, but for now, please save the date: 25th April, 2015. Make sure that you, your bicycle, and as many of your friends and family as you can muster will be in Edinburgh that day to Pedal on Parliament. Let’s make POP4 the one they can’t ignore.

Nice one. I'm pretty sure that having the date early is the key to maximising tournout.

Also, this will be two weeks before the general election. Perhaps candidates for the London parliament could be encouraged to attend?

"Perhaps canditates for the London parliament could be encouraged to attend?"

Think that's the expectation. Certainly all the candidates should be in Edinburgh on that day - and won't find a larger gathering of people (unless there's a football match on).

If it doesn't achieve all, it's likely there will be #PoP5 just before the Holyrood election.

Perhaps this could be made a "sticky" thread so it appears at the top of the front page as a reminder - even when there's no activity on it? (assume it will go through lulls before building up to April next)

Brilliant! First #pop2015 feeder ride organised already - anyone here from Burntisland? https://www.facebook.com/events/772642056124452

I maybe got a wee bit carried away with the FB event tool. ;) We don't yet have a main Fife feeder yet. I'm sure Jim will sort that out in time.

We already have 4 coming from Burntisland, on track to beat last years 6...

No doubt that is to avoid "discrimination" against the Orange Order.

Nah, it's just another measure to annoy/marginalise 'cyclists'...

seems to conflate parades and protests.

"Banners, placards, flags and posters bearing inflammatory images or words will not be allowed to be displayed"

If no one finds a protest march inflammatory it isn't much of a march. The last march I was on proposed bringing the United Kingdom to an end. Would this no longer be allowed?

"Any band or bands taking part in a parade/procession shall cease playing when approaching and passing any place of worship, whether or not services are in progress"

Just utterly bizzare. What about schools? Offices? Post Offices? Bakeries?

"No vehicles or animals should be part of the procession"

Bikes are not vehicles, is that right? Or does it depend if it suits 'us' or not?

"parade shall not walk not more than six and not less than four abreast"

    No mention of cycling though...

I'll try to have flyers and posters available at PY this Friday.
There is a big pile of flyers and posters at Edinburgh Bike Coop at Bruntsfield Links if anyone wants to pick some up for their workplace, cafes or other creative location. I'll try to get stacks of them at other bikeshops.

We hope to have similar pick ups at all of the Universities soon too.

I can also arrange to get flyers to you if you need a bigger pile. Let me know.

Flyers will also be going out with Spokes mailing this week.

@Laidback - will get posters and more flyers to you soon.

Nice poster. Inspiration for the bike from The Museum of Scotland by any chance?

  22. Copy of the posted on the sign in table at the Jens Voigt event tonight. And a flyer in every little Criterium Cycles booklet that was handed out. Good work whoever organised that.

@WC - it was a joint effort between Shuggiet (& Shuggiet jnr) and myself. Getting there early meant we got great seats too.

We do need help spreading the word about POP. If anyone is heading to an event that could be flyered & postered please let us know and we will provide the necessary material. It doesn't need to be a cycling event, just one where there a good chance of people being interested make Scotland safer and healthier.

It seems that there aren't any of the cycle roadshows before POP at the University of Edinburgh this year, which is a shame, as they were a good place to speak to people last year - Do Heriot-Watt and Napier have anything coming up? Dr Bike sessions at the meadows were also good. I'm not sure how to find out about when these might be though...

    @Hankchief.
Happy to put some posters up and hand out flyers at work.
Can I pick up some on Sunday?

@algo - there aren't any of the cycle roadshows before POP at the University of Edinburgh this year

However there are Dr Bike sessions, which may be equally appropriate opportunities:

Eight by my reckoning, ranging from 5th March to 23rd April.

Actually those eight cover pretty much every UoE campus (except Little France, which we've just missed).

    Time for a quick rota...

  29. I've just realised that means the guy I saw last night, who looked familiar, who seemed to nod a greeting, but because I'm really rubbish at remembering names and faces together, will have been one of you guys and I'll have looked remarkably rude.

Damn my poor facial recognition software.
