The University of Edinburgh's Dr Bike sessions seem like a good advertising point for PoP 2015.

These are on the following Thursdays:

    5th March ECA 12-2 pm
    12th March Holyrood 12-2 pm
12th March Pollock Halls 4-6 pm
    19th March KB 12-2 pm
19th March Centre for Sport and Exercise 4-6 pm
26th March Central Area 12-2 pm
2nd April Easter Bush 12-2 pm
23rd April Western General 12-2 pm

Could we divide these up amongst the UoE CCE-ers?

To kick this off, I could do the following:

    19th March KB
    26th March Central Area

Who is doing the Dr Bike sessions? Publicising PoP is a good and proper function of a Dr Bike session....perhaps the organisation in question will take this on?

    EDIT

Bike Station. Looking at website thing.

@iwrats the bike station will take leaflets if we ask nicely, but its a really good opportunity to actually talk to people.

    @SRD

I'm in favour of actually talking to people. How much do you bet I can't get Alex Johnstone and Neil Greig to attend?

    @IWRATS Maybe Grant McCusker too?

I can do all of these for an hour except the 12th and obviously only one place on the 19th… I don't mind which. I'd rather do the 12-1 if possible and then hand over to someone…

@Algo - Have you spotted that they're not all at lunchtime, that is, two are 1600-1800?

An hour for each is generous, so how about you have the 19th and 26th March off and do the rest (in the absence of other volunteers).

    That just leaves 12th...

I suspect that this requires a Doodle poll!

Right, there's now a Doodle Poll for folk to volunteer.

Algo, if you wouldn't mind, could you update it with your offer? If there are others interested we can divide it up a bit better, and I may be able to move things around to cover other slots.

@Roibeard - done thanks. I can do the 19th at the Pleasance place for a short while in the afternoon I think… for Easter Bush I may have to shorten it a bit as it takes a bit longer to get there and get back….

OT: Are these UoE Dr Bike things featuring Police Frame Marking this year, seeing as I have again reverted to an unmarked frame?

They had some police marking earlier in the year, but its not a regular feature of Dr Bike.

@wingpig - apparently there will be but it's not decided which yet - I will let you know as soon as I find out….

@wingpig, this week's Dr Bike will include marking and cheap lock sales. The latter is just for staff and students and one per person, but the marking hasn't been so restricted.

It may be restricted in practice, but might still be worth a punt if you're near Edinburgh College of Art tomorrow (5th) between 1200-1400.

Algo is going to PoP along for tomorrow's Dr Bike at ECA (for a bit), however it would still be good to have someone for next week's (12th March) events:

    Holyrood - 1200-1400
    Pollock - 1600-1800

Just been told that there will be no bike marking and lock sales at ECA today, however the plan is to provide it at the remaining Dr Bike sessions instead.

alas not a great turnout today despite the sunshine - managed to talk to a few people but had to leave at 1 unfortunately - I hope I didn't miss everyone turning up later

As there's no other takers, I'll pick up this week's sessions.

@drnoble, I'll thus leave you on your own for next week, if that's OK.

Just wondering if anybody knows what kind of locks the police are selling these days? Also, is there any truth in the rumour that they are available to buy from police stations and is marking available from them directly too?

Does anyone have a contact for the Police bike-marking people? I'd like to invite them to my work for an event we're running.

Last time they came (2013) they were worried about the impact of the Police Scotland changes. When I met them again at PoP 2014, they were relaxed again. Trouble is, I don't have a name because my contact there has moved on.

@jdanielp @Greenroofer - sorry only just seen these questions. Alas the Edinburgh University security people are doing the bike marking and are taking staff/student numbers. At some point before the police came along and I believe then anyone could do it but not now. According to the security people the police charge £45 to do it, but that may not be true.

Unfortunately I cannot make it to Easter Bush today on account of work.. sorry to have to cancel.
