I'm going to copy over what Sally said on the other thread so it doesn't get lost...
So now it's your turn, I guess: we need your help flyering, chalking, talking, feeder-ride-organising, and generally spreading the word. And having volunteers to do a bit of light marshalling at the Meadows - handing out flags, helping with the t-shirts, telling people what's going on, but not actually marshalling the ride itself - will probably help enormously.
The immediate ask is to help with getting the message out about the day - Posters, Flyers, Handlebar flyers, Social Media, telling colleagues / friends / political candidates / fellow parents etc. will all help.
Let's make sure that everyone has 25th April circled on their calendar.
Just shout if you need a hand or any materials.
Thanks

Are actual marshals required this year? I did last year and am happy to help again this year if required.

Could do with 100 flyers for the bike shed at waverley court. Posters on the WoL path start/finish kept being taken down last year? Maybe by the water bailiff himself.? Permission might be required, I could try to get a flyer on the notice board at the wee garden for the high school smokers (yes there are still three of them).?

Hi gembo.. Can transfer at a discreet spot on the canal sometime this week. Alternatively there are some available at various bike shops. EBC, Soulcycles , Laidback all have some just now.

@IWRATS - yes definitely need marshalls. I think ARobComp is skiing at the moment but when he's back he'll be on to it.

Thanks shuggiet and I will also wear my kingfisher tinted lenses. What time you thinking tomorrow?
Posted 9 years ago # -
Won't be tomorrow. Probably more like Wednesday. That work? Time to suit you?
Posted 9 years ago # -
Ok, can do wednesday earlier

Anyone have a bike seat that would fit a 3 years old that my sister can borrow for POP? Maybe even a tag along? They're based in Polworth area about 3 mins from harrison park.
Posted 9 years ago # -
@ARobComp If they have a Blackburn-style rack to attach it to I've got either a CoPilot Limo or Taxi I won't be using on the day which supported a month-shy-of-four-year-old last year (at least for the feed and unfeed legs, along with his heavy wooden balance bike across my handlebars), though he was possibly slightly over the official weight limit.

Will investigate their bikes when I'm around there tonight and see what rated racks they've got. I've got a blackburn somewhere I can give hem I think. Thanks for the offer. I'll be in touch!

Also possible marshals shouold have gotten an email from me just now. If you didn't, get in touch please!

Just a small warning that there are different sorts/(vintages?) of Blackburn rack - some have a gap (where part of the kids seat should slot through) that is too small for some seats (it's tight even when they do match up).

Yes. Needs to be an EX-1 or EX-2 version - ideally from this century.
I have one here that could be loaned. Tending to promote the Bobike seats now.
I have the seat post clamp rack and seat for that, (Very heavy and springy imho although other people seem to like). Also a Bobike rack mount that works with other racks - which means the seat post mount is unused.
We still have a couple of Co -pilots left too,

Just to add to the offering, I have a Blackburn rack with co-pilot seat & seat post clamp version which have been outgrown.
Available for POP if anyone(else?) wants to borrow them and happy to sell on for a moderate price.

Shuggiet, west end of slateford aqueduct 8a.m.? Tomorrow?
Posted 9 years ago # -
@gembo.. I'm not recovering fast enough after my car assault, so I'm still off the bike, so won't be able to meet on canal tomorrow. I could meet you somewhere that your route intersects with tram or Lothian Road.
Posted 9 years ago # -
@gembo I have some fliers and work at rutland square if that's usefuL?
Posted 9 years ago # -
Shuggiet, I am sorry to hear about this. I don't want to leave you hanging about at team stop etc. Monday also good. Or I can get them from Arobcomp. I am at bottom of leith walk at lunchtime but could pick up on way to work, dependent on when Arobcomp clocks on?
Posted 9 years ago # -
@ARobComp I have a rear seat that clamps down onto the seat post, it was donated to me from someone in the office, so I am looking at passing it on.
Posted 9 years ago # -
I'll be at work from 9:30 - 10 rutland square... If that works at all?
Posted 9 years ago # -
Not today,what about Monday?
Posted 9 years ago # -
I have some too Gembo
Posted 9 years ago # -
gembo I can ride out after work today if you're remotely within the city limits?
Posted 9 years ago # -
thanks to SRD I now have several flyers and can deliver - gembo if you tell me a place to meet today then I can meet you and hand them over.. can easily do lunchtime bottom of Leith Walk for example if you give me a time and place...

X-post from the other thread but worth reiterating after flyering this morning.
One thing I cannot highlight enough is that 1/2 to 2/3 of the people I stopped and spoke to had not heard of POP at all.
Please please tell everyone you know at work and online and at home about it!

Arobcomp, too true. Despite thousands turning up, few not in the know actually know about POP
Algo made contact with me at rendezvous in New Kirkgate. 100 bikes will be leafleted tonight. Council workers who cycle not on holiday shocker. Leith Walk something else. The surface nice the cycle lane clear, the traffic a real clanjamfrie.
I was at new kirkgate to pick up a gift of some schwalbe marathon tyres from Riffian. Most kind.

I need some marshals specifically to organise the parents/kids section at the front - you can be a parent yourself I just need a few people at the front and a few at the back to wear tabards and help designate the area. Ideally you could turn up early. you'd take part in the ride as normal .
Anyone keen?

@ARobComp. I am happy to help out with herding the children.
