Midlothian Council has become the first local authority in Scotland to install a revolutionary system on four of its refuse collection vehicles that could be a major step forward in improving cyclist safety.

Have spoken to my local Councillor to see if this could be introduced in Fife. They seemed quite enthusiastic* about the idea and was "going to speak to people" to see how feasible it would be.

*Have also had some cycle path signage agreed for more than 6 months now, still not in place despite numerous prods.

I guess installing reasonable cycling infrastructure is not high tech enough to be "revolutionary". Who wants to talk about kerb heights, as someone else mentioned recently.

I don't think slow moving council bin motors are the problem. I'd like to see this being enforced on commercial tipper trucks for it to possibly be a "safety revolution"
